Part of the A14 is closed in both directions because of a horse on the road and traffic is building in the run up to rush hour.
Traffic is at a standstill on the A14 in Northamptonshire in both directions between junction 12 for Thrapston and junction 11 for Cranford.
Earlier on, traffic was held on part of the M1 after a car overturned, causing delays for drivers.
Drivers were held southbound from junction 30 for Worksop/Sheffield South and junction 29A and there are delays of 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, there were huge queues on the A404 near Maidenhead, in Buckinghamshire, after a serious collision and part of the northbound carriageway was closed.
