As the UK is still recovering following the destruction caused by Storm Arwen and then Storm Barra a week later, millions of people on a low income will be given a lifeline of £300. However, not everyone will automatically receive this £300 boost and people are being urged to check.
Millions of people are set to receive a one-off payment of up to £300 this month from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
The money is paid every year to pensioners on a low income to help them meet higher fuel costs associated with the winter months.
Most payments are made in November and December, so Britons who didn’t receive it last month are being reminded to look out for it this month.
While many people will receive it automatically, people claiming benefits for the first time should double check so that they don’t miss out.
