Walking through the heart of Llanelli isn’t so much different from strolling through any other similar-sized Welsh town – but perhaps we’ve just got used to the sights of metal shutters marking departed businesses.
While Llanelli still has much to offer, the knock-on effect of the coronavirus pandemic has only increased the pressure on the high street, and the town has fared no differently.
But, even though the impact of Covid has been stark, the harsh truth is that Llanelli’s economy has been pretty much flatlining for a decade, long before we all started wearing masks and shopping online.
