Gunners in Bor war for Zakaria
Denis Zakaria has told Borussia Monchengladbach he will QUIT the club in the summer – with Arsenal expressing an interest.
The Bundesliga giants have confirmed the Swiss defensive midfielder, 25, he informed them he WILL be leaving at the end of the season.
With his contract expiring, Zakaria will be available on a free transfer – with foreign clubs able to kickstart pre-contract negotiations from January 1.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with the 38-cap international in recent weeks.
Barcelona and Manchester City are also said to be keen.
But reports in Germany have suggested Arsenal have made the first move.
The Gunners could offer Zakaria a contract starting from July 1 to land him for free or land the £24million-rated star for a cut-price fee in January.
Borussia Monchengladbach could be tempted to sell next month rather than lose their star man for nothing.
On Wednesday, a Gladbach statement read: “Denis Zakaria has informed the club of his intention to leave in the summer after five years.”
