Britain is mourning the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, who died last week after 70 years on the throne. Some people, including civil liberties campaigners, have expressed concern over the police response to anti-monarchy protesters, following arrests in Edinburgh, London, and Oxford.

Police Scotland said that a 22-year-old and 52-year-old had been arrested on the Royal Mile in connection with a breach of peace in recent days.
The UK toughened laws on protests earlier this year, giving police officers power to act in cases that they deem to be “unjustifiably noisy protests that may have a significant impact on others” or disrupt activities.
Advocacy group Liberty said that police powers to curtail protests are a cause of deep concern.
