As the sun continues to shine a little longer and the days become warmer, many Britons will be venturing into the garden to prepare for summer.
But they’re not the only ones heading back into the outdoors – bumblebees, butterflies and other creatures will also begin emerging from their winter slumber to search for food and shelter.
The impact of bees especially on our ecosystem extends far beyond pollinating our gardens – they contribute almost £700million annually to the UK economy and perform 80 per cent of pollination, which includes one-third of the food we eat.
However, in the past 25 years, the UK has lost 13 species of bees, with another 35 species under threat of extinction.
As such, gardeners across Britain are often keen on ensuring they hear the healthy buzz of bees and the beauty of butterflies in their outside space.
