Diane Rendalls died of a cardiac arrest in July 2022 at the age of 42.
Before her death, she had developed an interest in producing DIY miniature houses, from kits sent from China, which can be altered to the designers’ needs.
Diane had a love for entertainment and designed her miniature structures as book shops and cafes, with her love of the TV show The Walking Dead featuring in some of her small-scaled plastic properties.
Now her father, Valdec Rendalls, 69, who has lived at Rhodes Cottages for 30 years, has kept up the unusual hobby after previously helping his daughter with the electrics for the lighting on the numerous tiny structures.
Valdec, now retired from the armed forces, lives with his wife Irene, 74; they have been married for more than 50 years.
Irene told the Courier that, even though she doesn’t help to make them herself: “I certainly like looking at them.”
