Warnings have been issued over sex attacks against British tourists in Turkey. According to new data, there were a number of cases where British nationals sought assistance from the embassy after being attacked in 2023.
The latest data – which was released on Monday, June 24 – includes incidents of sexual assault and rape reported to UK consular officials in Turkey. Authorities noted these crimes typically occurred during the peak summer season and were concentrated in areas popular with holidaymakers.
Victims were often targeted by people they had come across earlier in the day, including employees at hotels and spas. The Foreign Office highlighted a disturbing trend of attacks on children in public restrooms and urged parents to remain alert.
