Francesco De Ferrari, a banking veteran who had a shortlived tenure as chief executive of Australia’s AMP Group, will become global head of Credit Suisse’s wealth management division, the Swiss bank announced on Monday.
De Ferrari’s return to Credit Suisse, which he left in 2018, will include an appointment to the Swiss bank’s executive board from January 1. He will also serve as interim chief executive of its Europe, Middle East and Africa region, Credit Suisse said in a statement.
In March, De Ferrari retired from AMP after a tumultuous stint at the Australian asset manager that lasted less than three years. His exit followed the collapse of takeover talks between AMP and US private equity group Ares Management over a A$6bn ($4.6bn) offer for the company.
In 2018, AMP appointed De Ferrari, then Credit Suisse’s Asia-Pacific private banking chief, as its new chief executive to “lead the recovery” of the business as it came under mounting regulatory scrutiny. De Ferrari…
