Two sprightly grandmas have launched a stay and play group for nans doing daycare for their kids.
Tess Allen and her friend Linda Fletcher, known affectionately as ‘Fletch’, realised there was very little available specifically for grandparents to do with their grandchildren.
So they set up their own group called ‘Nana Made Me’ in West Heath in September 2021, where they do traditional activities and have a good old natter about how ideas on parenting have changed.

“A friend who works as a teaching assistant said there were lots of nans turning up to school with prams and nowhere to go so we came up with this brilliant idea,” said Tess, who is nearly 60 and from West Heath.
“My daughter looked into it and said yes it was a huge thing. She found some research that said that 88 percent of grandparents provide at least one day of childcare a week but on the social side, there’s nothing for them really.”
