Next week’s teacher assessed A level and GCSE results in Wales are expected to be “substantially higher” again after traditional sat exams were cancelled for a second year, exam watchdog Qualifications Wales has said.
Grades were assessed by teachers and Pupils told their expected individual grades by schools in June.
Philip Blaker, Chief Executive of regulator Qualifications Wales, said: “We think it is more likely that results will be higher than in normal years, and potentially substantially so, given the different approach.”

Mr Blaker said many schools and colleges made use of past papers with known mark schemes which learners were able to prepare for and many “did very well in these assessments”.
“Accounting for this in professional and academic judgement may have been challenging and may have been done in varied ways,” Mr Blaker added.
