A senior Cabinet minister has suggested that he expects some companies will introduce a “no jab, no job” policy for Covid-19, but the government will not mandate such rules.
When asked if it was a good idea for some people to be fully-vaccinated before going back to the office, transport secretary Grant Shapps told Sky News: “Yes it is a good idea and yes some companies will require it.
“We are not going to make that legislation that every adult has to be double vaccinated before they go back to the office, but yes it is a good idea and yes some companies will require it.”
It came as more than 50 Tory MPs were prepared to vote against the government’s plans for Covid vaccine passports in nightclubs and other indoor venues from the end of September, according to reports.
A senior Conservative MP told The Daily Mail that there was “almost universal objection” to the plans in the party, while South Thanet MP Craig Mackinlay said the idea would be a “very dangerous step”…
