The bone-deep British love of dogs is not breaking news, but did you know your pet could help you to get a date?
Recent data from relationship app Tinder has highlighted that an association with dogs could increase your rate of matching with someone else on their platform.
Your chance of getting a like from someone increases by 5% when you include a picture with your dog, and ‘dog lover’ is the 5th most popular interest on Tinder in the UK (but only 9th most popular globally).
Clinical animal behaviourist Rachel Rodgers would always keep an eye out for pictures of dogs in dating profiles she viewed.
She said of her prospective dates: “For me, they have to like dogs, otherwise it was never going to work.
“Even if it was an allergy to pets, that’s never going to work out because I can’t imagine life without a dog in the house, so I was always actively looking for a dog in the pictures.”
