A Merseyside swimming baths has been forced to close after a coronavirus outbreak.
Formby Pool, which also includes a gym and fitness studio, will close for 10 days after positive Covid-19 cases were “linked to the centre”.
The centre, on Elbow Lane in Formby, announced the decision in a Facebook post last night (Tuesday).
David Kiernan, CEO at Formby Pool Trust, said: “We have taken the decision to temporarily close our site for a period of ten days while we work with Sefton Council and Public Health England over positive Covid-19 cases linked to the centre.
“The priority for everyone involved is to ensure centre users, staff and their close contacts are kept safe, and a temporary closure is just one of a number of extra measures we have put in place to limit any further transmission.
“We will reopen the centre as soon as it is safe to do so and would like to thank our members for their understanding at this time.”
Sefton Council said its public health and environmental health teams are working closely with the pool trust.
